This piece is a set of instructions for new USF students on how to purchase a parking permit. It goes step by step and includes images for them to follow along with.
This class is ENC3242 and is called Writing for PTC. It is designed to help students get used to the different types of writing that technical writers will come across in the real world.
I thought I did a good job with this one. My instructions were clear, and detailed and included only relevant information. One thing I could have done better was cropping the images to make them look more professional. Having professional-looking documents is the key to succeeding in the world of communications.
Below is the revised copy.
How to Get Your USF Parking Permit
1. Go to MyUSF and log in with your NetID.
2. Go to the “Parking Permits” option under the “My Resources” tab

3. When you select “Parking Permits," you will be taken to another page listing all three USF campuses.

You will need to click on whichever campus you will be attending. The purchasing process will be the same no matter what option you choose.
4. After selecting your campus, you will be forced to do a two-step verification process before being transferred to another page. When you get to this page, you will want to select the "Get Permits" option, as shown below.

5. The next page you will be taken to after this will inform you whether you are authorized.
If you are authorized, there will be a "Next" button to click on to continue the process.

6. The next page will require you to enter how many miles you will be traveling one way and how many days a week you will be traveling. You will then select another "Next" button as you have done previously.

7. You will then be taken to a page with several options on what kind of permit you can buy. You will select the one that is most useful to you. Make sure to note that you can only purchase one permit per semester. As you can see in the image below, all the options are still there; however, there is an error because I have already purchased one.

8. After you select the permit you want and continue to the next page, you will be given the option to choose the vehicle that will have the permit. You must select the "Add Vehicle" option if you have not already registered a vehicle.

9. After selecting "Add Vehicle," you will input all your vehicle's information. Such as the license plate number, insurance information, and registration information.
10. The final page you will take to will have you review your purchase and enter your payment method. You will have to put in your credit or debit card information. Or the information for whatever method you are using.
